So... You won't take my money?

So I had to go to buy a new condenser mic for my camera in an emergency. I went to the local camera store. When the man behind the counter asked of there was anything else he could help me with, I asked if there were any 37mm compatible SLR lenses that I could look at. He did ask what camera I had, and I told him that it was for a mount for my iPhone 4s. The guy stops, and says, "sorry, we don't support that". I tried to say that it would work fine, and he again responded, "WE DO NOT SUPPORT THE IPHONE FOR PHOTO OR VIDEO", slowly and deliberately.
I guess there are some very threatened/ elitist stores out there? What are your thoughts everyone?
